"Rescued from the Abyss of Euthanasia to Finding a Forever Home: The Remarkable Odyssey of an Exceptional Dog and a Devoted Family."

“Resilient ‘Unicorn Dog’ Triumphs Over Adversity, Finds Her Forever Home with a Loving Family in South Pasadena”

Meet Strawberry, a 2-year-old pit bull lovingly nicknamed the “unicorn dog.” Her remarkable journey led her to a forever home in South Pasadena, after overcoming numerous challenges that brought her close to euthanasia, all because of a mysterious bump on her head.

Strawberry’s life took a dramatic turn for the better when she was rescued by the La Belle Foundation in Los Angeles. The rescue organization shared her incredible story on social media, stating, “This young dog has faced unimaginable challenges. She bore terrible scratches on her swollen face and had goopy eyes, not to mention two large lumps on her sweet head.”

Initially, shelters believed the lump on her head to be a tumor, considering euthanasia as a last resort. However, in-depth examinations revealed that it was merely scar tissue from a previous injury, posing no threat to her life.

Once Strawberry had fully recovered and was ready for adoption, the Kuhlman family from South Pasadena came across her profile online and felt an instant connection.

“There was something about her,” explained Kristen Kuhlman, the family matriarch. “She had been waiting for a home for a while, and we couldn’t get her out of our minds. We saw her on the website time and time again.”

Still grieving the loss of a beloved canine companion of 15 years, the Kuhlman family made the heartwarming decision to bring Strawberry into their home, where they showered her with love and affection.

“She’s an amazing cuddler,” Claire Kuhlman, one of Kristen’s twin daughters, giggled. “She’ll snuggle right up to you. She’s quite substantial in size.”

It’s truly astonishing to think that this gentle and affectionate dog was once on the brink of euthanasia, the Kuhlman family reflected.

“We often wondered about the origin of that bump on her head,” shared Jack Kuhlman, the other twin in the family. “I believe that’s one of the reasons it took her so long to find a forever home.”

Strawberry arrived with her name intact, and the family decided it suited her perfectly.

“It’s a cute name. It’s a little long, so we sometimes call her ‘Strawbs,'” explained Jeff Kuhlman, the family patriarch. “We even found a leash with strawberries on it. It all seemed to fit.”

The Kuhlman kids revealed that their favorite activities after coming home from school include playing fetch with Strawberry and cuddling with their newfound furry friend.

Strawberry, the unicorn dog, has also become a beloved figure in the neighborhood, easily recognizable by her distinctive bump on her head, making her a local celebrity.

“People driving by would roll down their windows and say, ‘Hey, Strawberry,'” Kristen Kuhlman said. “She’s cherished by so many people in our community.”
